Opera Mini mobile browser has been downloaded more than 25 million times by users from the GetJar mobile application website, the companies said Tuesday. Opera Mini browser is one of most famous and strong browser in the world and it is available for various devices like Java mobiles, Android mobiles, Blackberry mobiles, Windows mobiles, Symbian Mobiles and various other mobiles. Another reason of its popularity is it supports low-end hardware, and uses very low memory, provides compress browsing which increases browser speed.
Till yet Opera Mini is leader in mobile browser however it is getting competition from other companies like Mozilla and recently getting popular Skyfire browser.
“The fact that Opera Mini is the most downloaded app ever on an open app store like GetJar makes us proud because it proves that our vision of providing a browser that works on almost all phones will give millions a better way to access the Web,” said Rolf Assev, Opera’s chief strategy officer, in a statement.
The milestone also demonstrates the growing reach of GetJar’s app store. The virtual store does not get as much attention as Apple’s App Store for the iPhone and iPod Touch, but it has quietly recorded more than a half billion downloads.
GetJar is different as compare to Apple application store because it distributes applications free of charge for multiple platform and devices. The company was also recently tapped to help provide the content for Sony Ericsson’s upcoming app store.
